Work Order
Why a Work Order is Important
Submitting a Work Order ensures that any campus purchase or installation involving infrastructure is:
- Code Compliant
- Safe and Feasible (utilities and space verified)
- Reviewed by Facilities Services
- Authorized before spending or contracting begins
If the task alters infrastructure, demands new utilities, involves fixed installation, or call for Facilities Services (“FS”) participation, a Work Order is non-negotiable and must precede any purchase requisition. Otherwise, procure the goods or services directly, attaching normal supporting documentation.
Work Order and Requisition Process
Step | Action |
---|---|
Step 1 | Submit a Work Order via the Customer Request Portal |
Step 2 | Facilities Services Reviews Request |
Step 3 | Receive approval or denial (email/quote) from FS |
Step 4a | If approved: Create a requisition and attach FS approval |
Step 4b | If denied: Seek alternative options |
Step 5 | Buyer processes requisition. Missing FS approval? Requisition will be returned |
