Work Order

Why a Work Order is Important

Submitting a Work Order ensures that any campus purchase or installation involving infrastructure is:

  • Code Compliant
  • Safe and Feasible (utilities and space verified)
  • Reviewed by Facilities Services
  • Authorized before spending or contracting begins

If the task alters infrastructure, demands new utilities, involves fixed installation, or call for Facilities Services (“FS”) participation, a Work Order is non-negotiable and must precede any purchase requisition. Otherwise, procure the goods or services directly, attaching normal supporting documentation.

Work Order and Requisition Process

Step Action
Step 1 Submit a Work Order via the Customer Request Portal
Step 2 Facilities Services Reviews Request
Step 3 Receive approval or denial (email/quote) from FS
Step 4a If approved: Create a requisition and attach FS approval
Step 4b If denied: Seek alternative options
Step 5 Buyer processes requisition. Missing FS approval? Requisition will be returned
