Food Service

SDSU Catering is proud to be the exclusive caterer for San Diego State University. By choosing SDSU Catering for your event, you are not only selecting quality service and food, but you are supporting San Diego State University students.

Aztec Shops has the first right of refusal for all events that involve food and beverages prepared or purchased from any off-campus source. They require their signature approval to waive their catering rights for events. SDSU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department requires review and signature approval of perishable food and beverages served or sold from any off-campus source associated with all events on campus that are open to the public.

Vendors must be contacted once the Catering Application has been approved by SDSU Catering.  Please note, that only approved vendors are permitted to provide catering services on campus.

NO - A requisition is not required if SDSU Catering is being used for your event. However, a Catering Waiver Agreement will be required.

YES - A requisition is required if an outside vendor is being used it for your event. Please note that SDSU Catering has the first right of refusal and a letter of refusal must be submitted from SDSU Catering with the requisition if an outside vendor is used for your event. A PCC can be used in some circumstances, please see the Non-PO Procure to Pay Policy (PDF) for additional questions.

Campus Partners (SDSU Colleges/Departments) are required to submit a Catering Waiver Agreement for all events that involve food and beverages prepared or purchased from any off-campus vendors. Once the request is approved you can contact the vendor. Please note, that only approved vendors are permitted to provide catering services on campus.

  1. Permitted Payment Options:
    1. Procurement Credit Card – Allowed for approved outside vendors and must adhere to the SDSU Non-PO Policy
    2. Employee Reimbursements- Allowed if less than $500
    3. Requisitions - are required if other payment mehods can not ba applied
  2. Documents required:
    1. Hospitality Justification Form
    2. Vendor Invoice
    3. Letter for Refusal from SDSU Catering (Only if using an outside vendor)
  3. Payment Notes:
    1. All will route to the appropriate FAH signing authority.

Additional Notes

SDSU catering waiver agreement is not required for potlucks, individual meals, and other food/beverages not being expensed with University funds.
